For next year, we will be training our staff on our new RTI Implementation Guide and intervention/enrichment strategies/practices. After visiting with a MPI Phase 3 graduate whose school has similar demographics, our team investigated Guided Reading Plus as a tool for intervention. We have order training and implementation resources to support this enhancement to our RTI. We are also researching universal screeners and intervention programs for math. We have met with Pearson and are looking at FOCUS Math. Have any of you used this program? All of our teachers have been trained in CGI. We want to make sure we chose something that not only aligns to CCSS but to the philosophy of CGI. The teachers choose the subject for the class. The questions over the article are also based on each student's reading level. Union CAMS had 1200 office ...Behavior Intervention

Union CAMS had 1200 office referrals in one year during the 2008-2009 school year. The staff worked together to identify a proactive way to help students adopt a behavior replacement to reduce office referrals and increase the amount of time spent in the classroom environment.

The staff agreed to spend federal dollars on additional training. They adopted the Stop and Think Method and they also adopted a Body Compatible Brain Research model to improve teacher relationships with students while students built capacity. Every student took a learning style inventory test and teachers were able to link learning styles to classroom behavior.

Parents attended the training sessions to glean additional ideas which could be implemented at home. Parents wanted to support the measures taken at school to have a shorter implementation phase or the positive behavior replacement.

Teachers are now allowing students to remove themselves from their learning communities. Students have a stop watch and they are allowed ten minutes free of teacher questions and peer interaction. Research says it takes ten minutes for a child to retool or deescalate.

Other students who are tactile learners are allowed to leave the learning community, but they walk to the Alternative Learning Room for ten minutes to deescalate. Allowing these students to walk gives them the additional scaffold they need deescalate and return to class.

Before the student leaves the class, the teacher has a private conversation and they identify behavior replacements that would have been more appropriate. The end result is the student takes ownership of his/her actions, they learn how to replace the behavior, and the student does not lose two days of instructional time due to a traditional Alternative Learning Assignment.

Did this work: The discipline referrals were reduced from 1,200 students to 286 students. Sixty-five of the referrals happened on the bus; not in the classroom environment. Student achievement in at-risk students (students who were known discipline) experienced a double digit gain in literacy and math.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6277833345166534362.post-70005234130155157652012-01-25T14:50:39.657-06:002012-01-25T14:50:39.657-06:00M. Find website on Success Maker Enterprise...M. Hutton
Find website on Success Maker Enterprise: we use this Success Maker for our students going through the RTI process. The program differentiates for the individual student. This site says it is a researched based program, it's comprehensive, and interactive. Our student like the program and complete math and reading every day. The program is for k 8 students. Reports are available on -line, we use the culminating reports. Individual reports can be printed telling the educator the areas of difficulty, Educators can use this to determine what specific skills the student has not picked up. Then place the student on a short version to work just on that specific skill.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6277833345166534362.post-51480419691383730432012-01-25T14:48:05.572-06:002012-01-25T14:48:05.572-06:00Technology Resources-
